• This seems to only be happening when I try to put tables into a post/page.

    Here is what happens:
    1. I go to the code tab and start creating my table using the standard html tags.
    2. I hit save and continue editing.
    3. I go over to the Visual tab to see how every thing is looking, everything looks fine.
    4. I go back to the code section, and most of the work I have done on the tables are gone.
    5. I go back to the visual section to see if it is still their, and nope, its gone from their too.
    6. I exit the editor and go back, and it’s back to the way I saved it in step 2, but wait, when i go to the code section it’s gone again.

I can’t work this way. Please let me know what i cn do to fix this. If it is a word press issue it may be a deal breaker.

  • I don’t think this is the correct forum for this question, but it is an issue I can here looking for an answer to also. It seems to be happening more with 2.2.1 than with previous versions, I used tables in the html tab without issues in earlier versions.

To expand, *any* code that I enter in the code view, preview, then come back to is changed, extra line breaks added that break the code. This applies to javascript, code to embed videos, anything. When the javascript or video codes are broken it causes the entire template to break and the rest of the content is displayed all over the page.

If you publish without previewing or saving and continuing, it is fine. If you go back and edit the post and resave, it is broken.

    Any assistance is appreciated!

Turn the visual editor off and see if that works.
Go to users, Your Profile and deselect the Use the visual editor when writing checkbox.
Click Update Profile and you should be good to go.

Never switch between code and visual if you input your own code… and you will have a long, happy and worry-free life. Disable for good the wysiwyg – and you will be happy for ever 🙂
