# WordPress doesn´t renew plugins and itself!

 * Hi! Several months ago wordpress stopped renewing plugins automatically. In the
   forum I did not receive the answer.
 * Now it does not renew itself either! (it shows: Downloading update from [https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-3.8.2-no-content.zip…](https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-3.8.2-no-content.zip…)
 * Unpacking the update…
 * The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. 
   This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions.: wp-admin/includes/update-
   core.php
 * Installation Failed
 * How can I solve this problem?

 * The error message is telling you to go and check the file permissions of your

 * By default, WordPress has _never_ updated plugins automatically and there are
   no plans to do so in the future as far as I am aware. Automatic _minor_ core 
   updates were introduced in WordPress 3.7.
 * Have you checked the permissions on these files? Are they 644?

 * Thanks.
    Sorry, I did not express myself correctly about “automatically”. I meant
   that wp shows that I have plugins and I need to update them, so before I could
   go and press the button “update”, put password, ect. And after I could see that
   there are no more updates. But now I do that (all the same like before), but 
   wp keeping saying that I need to update the plugin. So I needed to do it manually,
   using FileZila, and it is very uncomfortable!
 * About file permission: The hole folder “includes” has 777, and everything inside
   also.
    I´ve change permission of update-core.php to 644. It did not help. Shows
   the same phrase when Im trying to update.
 * Are there other thing I need to change to 644?

 * Manually delete wp-admin and wp-includes and install a clean version of WP. There
   may be something stupid sticking around. Keep in mind, your data is SAFE 🙂

 * Well, i tried with one I have and with new version and nothing changed. The same
   phrase and problem appears.
    Any more ideas? What else can I do?
