Support » Fixing WordPress » WordPress dashboard doesn't display fully

  • Hello everybody,

I have a website I haven’t opened in the last 1 year and a half. Today I logged in and noticed that the dashboard doesn’t display the full menu. The only options in the menu column are Dashboard, Profile, Collapse Menu. Maybe I just need to install the latest WordPress version?
Looking forward to clearing this one out.

  • Yeah right, you need to upgrade with latest version

    Thank you for your answer.
I just downloaded the latest wordpress version, but I’m still trying to figure out how to install it. In the past I used Total Commander but for the moment it’s impossible to find the hostname for the ftp connection. Can I upload it directly on the website? I’m searching for an upload option but can’t seem to find it.

I think better you take backup of your site then do automatic upgrade option from wordpress backend.

hello again and thanks for your answer.
I’ve been reading lots of documentation about updating wordpress, and it seems there’s automatic update available for versions beginning with 2.7. I cannot remember what version was installed last, and i’m not savvy enough to diagnose it.
What I do know is that in the top, there’s the “WordPress 4.3.1 is available! Please notify the site administrator.” msg. In order to update manually, is there a program to back up existing content? My host contact is unavailable these days, I don’t know if there’s already a back up to my site, and also I don’t have the hostname for a ftp connection.
I’m kind of hoping for an easy way out, or at least one that I can handle on my own.
