WordPress Custom Smilies

Hi.

I’ve been looking for a way to implement custom smilies into WordPress, and there are quite a few plugins for it, but apart from most of them not being updated in at least a year, they all seem to

replace

the smilies. I’d like to know if there’s a way I could

add

smilies, so they are in addition to the default ones. They don’t have to have corresponsing text like “:)” or “>:(” and then turn into smilies, but I’d like a button in the TinyMCE editor that gives a selection of smilies (custom uploaded ones) and then inputs the

and not some text. Is anything like this or similar to this possible?
