# WordPress Core Update

 * Hello,
 * I’m having some trouble updating my WordPress core files through the admin dashboard
   to version 4.7.1. On the dashboard, I have a notification that states that 4.7.1
   is available and gives me an option to update now. I click the link and it takes
   me to the updates page.There, I click the update now button in order to initiate
   the update. After about ten seconds, I get sent to another screen, which briefly
   states the WordPress update process such as extracting files, etc. It also says
   the update was successful. This screen stays for about two seconds before transitioning
   to the WordPress 4.7.1 Welcome Screen that talks about the new update. The weird
   thing is, my WordPress core still isn’t updated even though it states that it
   is.
 * Even more ironic, I received an email notification stating that the site updated
   automatically to 4.7.1 today. That doesn’t seem to be the case. This issue isn’t
   just with this site. I have multiple sites with this issue. All the sites are
   hosted on my Ubuntu VPS.
 * If anyone could possibly help me to resolve this issue, it would be very much
   appreciated. Thank you in advance.
