 * We are experiencing issues when trying to update our WordPress core to version
   6.6.2. I’ve already checked the usual suspects, like file permissions, and everything
   seems to be set correctly.
 * We’re hosted on AWS Lightsail, and I have FTP access to manage permissions. The
   primary user for the instance is “bitnami.” After reviewing various forum posts,
   I tried modifying permissions on the core folders, but that caused the website
   to break.
 * It’s important to note that all our plugins are auto-updating without any problems.
 * Attached are some screenshots for additional context.

 * Make sure the file permissions are 644 and directory permissions are 755.
 * If that doesn’t work, try 664 for files and 775 for directories.

 * Hi James,
 * Thank you for your prompt reply.
 * We’ve already reviewed the folder permissions, and everything appears to be in
   order. However, I suspect the issue might be related to the user groups created
   by the Lightsail instance, specifically the daemon/bitnami users. Could this
   be causing the problem?
 * What I’m thinking is that while the permissions may be correct for the Bitnami(
   root) user, there might be a permissions issue with the Apache server, where
   Apache may not have the necessary access.
 * Could you share your thoughts on this?

 * Possibly, I’ve blissfully forgotten that aspect of it.
 * I recommend reading over [https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/server/file-permissions/#permission-scheme-for-wordpress](https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/server/file-permissions/#permission-scheme-for-wordpress)
   and if you’re unable to meet that, check with Bitnami’s support.

 * Hi James,
 * Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this issue.
 * I will run another checklist and update if the issue was resolved for me.
 * Thanks
