 * As of yesterday, I received a range of WordPress connection errors on my websites:
 * Akismet:
    “Your firewall may be blocking Akismet.”
 * Jetpack:
    “Outbound HTTPS not working” & “Jetpack could not contact WordPress.
   com: register_http_request_failed. This usually means something is incorrectly
   configured on your web host.”
 * Add Plugin
    “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.
   org or this server’s configuration.”
 * Add Theme:
    “An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.
   org or this server’s configuration.”
 * I have two WordPress websites hosted on Godaddy, both encountered these connection
   problems. I’ve not recently changed anything on the website. I created a fresh
   WordPress install (no plugins) in order to debug the problem and encountered
   the same errors.
 * All 3 websites have WordPress 4.5.3 installed. I’ve talked with Godaddy about
   the issue but had no success.
 * Can anyone assist?
 * Thanks,
 * – K
 * p.s. possibly related to this problem is: webpages are slow to load on all 3
   websites.

 * I am also with GoDaddy and have experienced the same issue today, support told
   me that they suspect that I have been hacked. I have three blogs each on the
   same hosted account (with GoDaddy) all are not able to connect with WordPress,
   all except one are working fine with anti-malware scans.
 * My blogs are incredibly slow to load within the dashboard menu.

 * First rep I talked to said it was likely Akimset cut the service so they could
   charge me more for a better service which was ridiculous.
 * Given the fresh WordPress install is failing I suspect it’s not a hack but no
   idea on what else it actually it.

 * Sounds like GoDaddy may have fouled up the root SSL certificate authority on
   the server, as absolutely nothing that communicates out via HTTPS can establish
   a secure connection (that includes Akismet, Jetpack, and WordPress itself).
 * I recommend contacting them again, and the next time they try to pin the issue
   on one single plugin, ask to speak to a higher level of support.
 * If all else fails, we do have a list of recommended hosting providers: [https://wordpress.org/hosting/](https://wordpress.org/hosting/)
 * And instructions for moving WordPress: [https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Keeping_Your_Domain_Name_and_URLs](https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Keeping_Your_Domain_Name_and_URLs)

 * Just had a call with GoDaddy I think they must have a script when ever anyone
   flags up any issues they start questioning site language, GoDaddy is now claiming
   it’s due to PHP language being out of date on my blog and that WordPress does
   not support my version f PHP???

 * Hm, and I bet they didn’t bother to say what version of PHP your server is running
   either? 😉
 * For the record, WordPress requires at least PHP 5.2.4, recommends at least PHP
   5.6, and works just fine under PHP 7.0.9 (the latest version of PHP).

 * I’d suggest going through GoDaddy’s email or chat support. Their phone support
   has been quick to dismiss issues lately.

 * Seems everything is working again.
 * After talking to a few more GoDaddy reps they were able to replicate the connection
   problem and said they would escalate for a fix. I’m due to hear back from them
   how that went, I’ll update if I hear anything. Hopefully the problem didn’t just
   magically disappear and there was an actual reason for it.
