I posted this on the Hatch forum with no reply.
I recently upgraded my Facebook plugin and noticed after doing this that even though I had comments turned off for pages (but allowed for posts), the comment boxes are appearing. I have Facebook comments for my posts (my blog posts) but unchecked for my pages (like contact, about pages etc). For each page I disallowed comments and trackbacks. You can have a look at my contact page for example.
For this page, I have a contact form and underneath – a “Leave a Reply” WordPress comment box is present even though I turned it off in both the page’s settings and Facebook plugin’s settings. I’ve now tested this and when the Facebook plugin is deactivated the comment box won’t show as per my wish, so I know that the Facebook plug-in is somehow interfering. Furthermore, if you try to comment using this comment box it will say “sorry, comments are closed for this item”. So WordPress seems to be respecting my decision to have comments closed, but the comment box is still showing despite not wanting it there.
What can be done to fix this, or will it be addressed in the next update to this plug-in? Because this is potentially confusing for visitors to my site who may go to leave a comment and find it doesn’t work (even though I don’t want it to work, I don’t want it to be visible in the first place).
