WordPress Car Dealership theme that works with Autotrader UK

    Hi All

    I have been asked to create a wordpress website for a UK car dealership. The owner advertises on Autotrader and wants to add his adverts to his own website.

    Autotrader make websites but are not cheap so he wants his own site. Autotrader can send dealers a csv file listing their adverts daily which an be uploaded. Or it seems dealers can link to the autotrader adverts with iframes. I am still trying to talk to someone in Technical about it at Autotrader. I wonder if anyone has any recent experience in this? I did notice that in 2008 a post on here indicated it was extremely difficult
    to work with. So they had not.

    Has anyone come across this in the UK and managed to work with it?

    Hi Jelly,
    You might consider the Car Demon PlugIn; http://wordpress.org/plugins/car-demon
    Then you have the option of using a variety of different themes. Personally I like using themes from CyberChimps or one of commercial themes we developed for Car Demon.

    As for importing data from a CSV we have a commercial import tool that is pretty versatile. It lets you map the import fields to match your CSV.

    I would suggest getting a copy of their CSV file and then you can send us a contact on our about page and we’ll give you access to test the CSV before you commit to purchasing anything.

    There are a few other automotive PlugIns available that you might want to check out. I would suggest a PlugIn over a theme because of the versatility.

    No I have not done anything further. I dont want to build a website that does not work. I have learned that there seems to be a company called Dragon who have sorted this out and are happily building websites that do work with the autotrader data.

    PS. My friend has managed to speak to his Autotrader Rep and he has been informed that once his website is done all we do is give them the domain name and they link it up.

    I know nothing more at this point but happy to report when I know more.
