 * A general question about capacity:
I’ve been asked to do a site. I can see how
to do it with custom posts (visits reports and places to visit) and hierarchical
custom taxonomies (areas, sub areas and sub sub areas). But my question is this:
I’ll have to link about 2000 custom posts of places of interests with several
thousands (about 2000 for the moment and 1000 planned for the next 2 years) of
visiting reports including authors of the visits who will have to be able to
post their reports themselves. Their report will include also 5-6 pictures, the
names of other people (some of them reporters as well for other visits and some
not), and a few other custom fields. Furthermore, there will about 6000 documents,
probably 4000 thousands pdf and 2000 images, already stored in a rudimentary
database that are linked to the places… On top this, I will have to manage about
a hundred users that will be able to post their reports and create new places
of interest for some of them. Is wordpress strong enough for that ? will I need
a special server for this or is it just normal numbers for this CMS. I’m asking
because I’ve never made a site with more than a few hundreds of posts and a few
pages till now. Thank you for your help !

 * WordPress is fine for this but you should ensure that your current hosting plan
   can accommodate.
 * Additionally, from a user perspective, I would ensure that your files, especially
your images, are optimized for performance.

There are some very large companies that rely on that service.

 * Thanks for these answers. I’ve checked VIP WordPress but that’s a little expensive
   😉
