This is something that’s been going on for a while now, but my attempts to fix it so far have failed. The WordPress admin side to my blog, http://www.lobablanca.com, no longer allows me to save drafts or preview what I’m writing. However, I realized that it is auto-saving. I just can’t see them anywhere other than when I go into my “Posts” section. There, the “All” number reads 1,952. I’ve only published 854 posts; that’s all I can see even when I click on the All link. I exported my blog to a WordPress.com site, and there I was able to see all the auto-saved draft files as well as several comments that somehow got embedded (I don’t allow comments). I cleaned those and the draft files out, but I don’t want to replace my current files with the clean export until I address whatever is wrong with my WordPress files.

A couple months ago, all my permalinks stopped working as well. I finally found a post that stated adding “index.php” helped someone else fix their permalink issue. This also helped me, but I fear that this is another symptom of a massive failure on the horizon. Oh, and the admin side is no longer registering my RSS feed anymore (although it’s still working on my blog).

I deactivated all my plugins and moved them out of the plugins folder (all that is there now is what is standard with WordPress). I then did a clean manual install of WordPress 4. I followed the instructions, but the permalinks issue is still there and I still can’t see drafts.

At this point, I’m tempted to just deactivate the whole thing and reactivate it as a fresh blog, then move in the cleaned up files from the new WordPress.com blog I created. But before I do something that drastic, I wanted to see if anyone here could help me. I use Yahoo Small Business for my domain and server space. As I’m sure you’re aware, that means I can’t load the .htaccess file. Is this what’s causing the problems? Should I abandon Yahoo since they obviously aren’t suitable as a WordPress host at all? I tried to reach out to them for help, and they completely blew me off. WordPress is not their problem, apparently.

    Help?

  • Hello,

Have you tried using a different browser / computer. It might be a JavaScript issue on your machine.

I’ve tried different browsers, different computers–it’s the same across the board. I also try to keep everything as up-to-date as I can on my system at home.

Does anyone have any advice to give on this problem? Should I just wipe everything and start clean? Or is there something else I could try first?
