 * We migrated our website and got an automated email to said that wordpress had
   automatically updated to 4.0.24.
 * Problem is, some of our plugins were custom build and now it has automatically
   updated the plug-in isnt working correctly. (Part of our reason for migrating
   is the problem that we can’t update a lot of our website due to the way it was
   build. We are in the process of having a new site built)
 * How can I take wordpress back to the previous version? Should I contact the host
   provider about it as it upgraded when they did the migration?
 * Ideas?

 * Do you still have the site files and database used to migrate the site to your
   current host? If so, you probably have what you need to roll back your site on
   your own. If not, you can reach out to your host to ask if they have a backup
   of the site at anytime before the automatic updates were made.
 * In regard to the updates — custom-built WordPress plugins should not update automatically,
   so it’s probably just an issue of the custom plugin not being compatible with
   the latest version of WordPress, which may be easier to update than trying to
   find a backup file from your host. Or maybe not, it depends on what those plugins
   look like and the functionality they provide.
 * I only bring that up because you mention you’re currently in the process of having
   your site rebuilt, and your current developers may be able to review and resolve
   the plugin incompatibility issues.

 * Hi [@savage84](https://wordpress.org/support/users/savage84/)
 * Keeping custom developed things always causes pain 🙂
    On one hand, it’s strange
   that your hoster upgraded WP during migration, but on the other hand, it’s unsafe
   to use outdated WP and plugins, it makes your website vulnerable. I think you
   should contact hosting provider asap and ask if they have a backup of your website(
   if they created one before migration).

 * Thanks
    I have contacted the new host. I have a copy of the website from before
   it was migrated so I could potentially use that.
 * I might look into how difficult it would be to get the plug in to work on the
   current version of wordpress.
 * Appreciate your help

 * I hope this plugin helps you go back to the WordPress old version- [https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-downgrade/)
