WordPress as CMS Suggestions (4 posts)

    Hi all. I run a coupon website using WordPress - except I hand write all the coupons manually (I don't like those systems that do it for you). If any other members have experience or pointers on using WordPress as a CMS, I'd be grateful.

    The site's name is Couponsophy.

    What do you think? I'm concerned it might look a bit "harsh" on the eyes.

    Also, I'm concerned that if I upgrade to version 3.2.1, I might loose my CSS & other code changes. I don't want to have to go back into the appearance code again. Does anyone have experience with that?

    Looking forward to your comments. Thanks!

    Your CSS shouldn't change because it is part of your theme not WordPress.

    I wouldn't say your site is 'harsh' looking, maybe a bit bland though. Not a lot of color and large areas of white space.

    Good luck,

    because you have edited Twenty Ten directly, there is a real chance that your theme might be overwritten with an upgrade of your wordpress version, as this theme is still part of the default package.

    make sure you have backup copies of all your theme files, before attempting to upgrade;

    ideally, create a child theme of Twenty Ten for your site http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

    Thanks for the feedback & taking the time to write. I'll look into that child theme - I didn't realize it was so easy to do!
