 * Hey all,
 * I’m interested in using WordPress as an e-commerce platform and I was wondering
   what everyone’s opinion on it was. Do you guys feel that the current WordPress
   e-commerce offerings are good enough for large stores? How do you feel it compares
   to the other more popular e-commerce platforms such as Magento? I’m starting
   a project soon, so your opinions would be very helpful.
 * Also, I know this question is a little more specific but, with the current e-
   commerce plugins available, can you use any WordPress theme or does it have to
   be specifically compatible with the plugin?
 * Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 * You can use almost any theme. I believe the big plugins are pretty compatible.

 * Hi ArthurCatigbe,
 * WordPress is a great product and a wonderful Content Management System. However,
   keep in mind it is not a e-commerce software. I’m aware of some plugins that
   help you set up an e-shop in WordPress, but you may not get all the functionality
   you would out of a third party e-commerce software.
 * You could set up the front of the site in WordPress and power the e-shop with
   another solution such as cubecart, magento, or OSCommerce. Then you have the
   best of both worlds, a great dynamic-content driven website, and a large store
   front for your website.
 * I hope this sheds some light on your situation.
 * Thanks!
