    Hello,

My site was recently dumped on my by the developer who has since gone MIA.

When trying to update my sites WordPress and Plugins I am receiving the following:

    “Downloading update from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/addthis.3.5.9.zip…

    Unpacking the update…

    Installing the latest version…

Removing the old version of the plugin…

Could not remove the old plugin.

    Plugin update failed.”

Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue so that I can update things.

    Thanks much.

  • You can remove the (current version of the) plugin completely and then install it from scratch, that will ensure you’ll have the latest version.

If the plugin has any settings, they may be lost though.

    Thank-you for the reply.

As you mentioned this would cause the lost of the plugin settings. And I may have to do the same things the next time there is an update available.

The site is hosted on a windows based server. Is there another way to address this issue?
