• Hello,

I am doing a project on online book store. Can I use free WordPress.com to create a database driven website like a book store?

Where do I install or use phpMyAdmin? Is there a plugin for database that I need to use.

    Thanking you,

    Mary

Head over to wordpress.com and investigate; and if it suits your needs, sign up for a free site. WP includes its own database which you will mainly interact with in the WP admin pages rather than directly via phpMyAdmin.

BTW, this forum is for self-hosted (not free) WP installations. You can read about the differences here:

    Hey Mary –

I don’t think you have cPanel access at WP.com – nor do I think you can get it. You’re going to need a shared hosting account somewhere – that way you get cPanel (phpMyAdmin) and also will have the ability to create your own mySQL databases, etc…

Get a cheap hosting account somewhere for testing. They’re only a couple bucks a month usually – and you can often find one to throw in a free domain.

    Cheers,
    Chad

    Thanks

I thought about MAMP. I have downloaded it. Though does MAMP offer the database with wordpress?
