Hi @petmak,
Thanks for reaching out, and sharing the troubleshooting efforts you’ve already undertaken. So we can determine more on this please share the following:
- Your Site Health information, which differs to the site status you mentioned. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
- When checking the Site Kit dashboards from a Chrome browser incognito window do you see any browser console errors on the same screen where this notice appears? IF so please share any such errors.
Once we have the above information we can provide some troubleshooting suggestions, which may include using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin, to rule out any third party plugin conflicts.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
Hi James.
Thank you for your speedy reply.
I sent the requested information using the private channel
Thank you`
Many thanks for sharing. I’ve checked your site and inspected your plugin environment. From reviewing there are some plugins that with particular configuration would impact your WordPress REST API or the Site Kit dashboard.
Before checking any particular plugin configuration can you perform the steps below, and inform me if the same error appears?
- Login to your site from a Chrome browser incognito window
- Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
- Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
- From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
- View your Site Kit dashboard for the same error once more
Let me know if you need assistance with the above. You can view more detailed instructions of the above on the plugin website.
If you don’t see the error on the Site Kit dashboard, when following the steps above, I’ll work with you so you can review the configurations for the plugins you have active.
Hi James.
Thank you for your reply, I followed your instruction to install Health Check & Troubleshooting Plugin, I enable Site Kit by Google and still getting the same error.
Thanks
BMany thanks for performing this check, which can help rule out third party plugin or theme related conflicts. So we can determine more on this can you share either screenshots or a screen recording of this error from your site, which include the following:
- Any browser console errors that appear on the same page where you see this error
- Any XHR response where on the same page
You can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share a screen recording. Please use the same form previously used to share privately.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
hi James.
Thank you for your mail, I sent the requested information privately
Thanks
BMany thanks for sharing this, very useful to see what’s occurring.
Based on reviewing the video this is only occurring within the PageSpeed Insights. I suspect there may be something at host level resulting in the 403 Get request error, in particular as you’ve already checked with all other plugins deactivated.
Can you share whether you have any other WordPress site sites on the same hosting platform? If so can you check if you encounter the same issue with the PageSpeed Insights module?
You can also rule out the issue being with your local software. In order to do so you can use the below link and setup Site Kit on this disposable site. I suspect you will see the PageSpeed Insights score on this test site.
https://tastewp.org/plugins/google-site-kit/Note also that I checked your site using the PageSpeed Insights web interface, which does complete a scan of your successfully. While we investigate this further you can use this method.
Let me know if you do encounter the same on any other sites on the same hosting platform, and if so please share your hosting provider.
Hi James.
thank you for your reply.
I sent you another video privately please have a look.
I don’t have another website to check.
The problem it this error ( JASON ) appear only when I am editing the page from the WordPress interface but when I editing anything via Elementor all good.
Sorry to bother you again but I am trying to find out where is the issue, maybe there is something I did wrong that triggering this error
Thank you for your patient with me.Not a problem, happy to assist. That’s what we’re here for! Note that if you’re seeing this error also when editing a page or post this indicates the issue you’re having in relation to the JSON error isn’t specific to Site Kit.
From reviewing the error posted elsewhere, such as on the Fixing WordPress forums there can be numerous causes, see this topic for example. You’ve already ruled out many of the possibilities mentioned in that topic, and I suspect that in your case it’s hosted related.
May I ask your current hosting provider? From your hosting control panel it may be possible to create another WordPress site to test from.
Sorry to bother you again but I am trying to find out where is the issue, maybe there is something I did wrong that triggering this error
You’ve already performed a check with the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin, indication it’s unlikely a third party plugin conflict, and I don’t see anything obvious causing this when checking your public REST endpoints or your current plugin environment. Another WordPress site set up from the same hosting provider might be a useful check.
Another useful check might be to use a standard WordPress .htaccess file. I mention this as you’re using the WP Htaccess Editor, which indicates there may have been changes made. If you did make any such changes please revert to a standard .htaccess file, while also regenerating your permalinks once more upon making any changes.
Let me know how you get on with any of the checks above, namely:
1. Checking from another WordPress site on the same hosting platform
2. Using a standard .htaccess file and regenerating your permalinksIf you have any questions with the above feel free to ask!
Hi James
Trust you are well. do you have update.
Thanks
BHi @petmak,
I’m good thank you. I just noticed now that you submitted a response via a Site Health information form. Apologies for the delay.
As we’ve already performed a check using the Health Check and Troubleshooting plugin and checked with a standard .htaccess file the next step is to troubleshoot with your current hosting plan. As it doesn’t sound like there are any REST related errors in your site health status the next check is to ask consult with your hosting provider or check from another WordPress site on the same plan.
As you’ll see from a similar support topic in the fixing WordPress forums there are multiple cases for the “Response is not a valid JSON response”. As you’re encounter this also when editing or saving posts this indicates it’s not specific to the Site Kit dashboards.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above. You may wish to ask your hosting provider for any active firewall, or security feature that may impact the WordPress REST API. You can also ask them for assistance in setting up a second WordPress site to check for the same error from.
As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
