WordPress all in one video plug-in
-
I recently downloaded the wordpress all in one video pack and am unable to open the zip file. Any suggestions? Do I need to download another plug-in to open the PHP format file?

Are you on Mac or PC?
Are you able to open other zip files alright? I downloaded the All in One Video pack zip file and was able to extract it fine, so it looks like it’s likely something at your end.
I am able to extract the files, but even though they are adobe files, they are written in PHP format/ When I attempt to open any component, I get a pop-up window that says:
‘Adobe reader could not open ‘kaltura_admin_controller.php’ because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged”
I tried downloading a php triad file to open it but I have had no luck
Adobe Reader is meant to open PDFs, not PHP files.
Try opening the PHP files in a plain-text editor like Notepad or TextEdit, or in a code editor.
Ok, tried using notebook, then downloaded code reader–no success. Did I tell you that I am a complete novice when it comes to this stuff. Were you able to read the files you extracted? Using what program? I wish Vodpod was still around!
I was able to open the files in TextEdit, Smultron and Dreamweaver.
Are you doing things in this order:
First, open the editor itself.
From within the editor, go to File > Open and select the file.
Dumb question, but do you really need to edit the PHP files?
Most plug-ins are very simple to get going – you upload the folder and activate the plug-in – and adjust settings within the WP control panel.
Dumb questions are the only kind I have. I downloaded TextEdit and it read the same as the Notepad attempt. I can read the read me page but everything else is symbols and words that are gibberish. I really am a novice at all of this, but I really miss having Vodpod to service my site. As it is now, I sometimes download the videos with Real player, then upload them to YouTube, where I can grab the url for my wordpress site. I don’t even know for sure that this WordPress plug-in is what I am looking for; it is just what I have stumbled upon. I have registered at the Kaltura site, where they give a free trial to their uploader, but so far, I have not figured it out enough to use yet either.
I’m still not sure why you need to open and edit the PHP files?
Zoonini,
In answer to your last question abt. PHP files, all I know is that every time I try to install the unzipped files, which are in adobe reader form, the following window pops open (I posted a snapshot on my site)
.
I installed PHP Triad and PHP5, thinking that would solve the problem, but it didn’t seem to help. Can you help figure this out?all I know is that every time I try to install the unzipped files, which are in adobe reader form
Normally, when you unzip a plug-in, all the files are contained in a folder. Have you tried uploading that folder to your site’s “plugins” folder (within your wp-content folder) via FTP and then activating the plug-in in your admin area.
Have you installed other plugins successfully?
Hi there, I just had another look at your screenshot and noticed that yours looks like a WordPress.com blog.
This forum is only meant for WordPress.org blogs, where you run the WordPress software on your own hosting plan.
If this is correct – if your blog is being hosted over at WordPress.com – you’ll need to head over to the WordPress.com support forum: http://en.forums.wordpress.com/
Keep in mind that you can’t actually upload your own plug-ins on WordPress.com, which may be why you’re having issues. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org & WordPress.com here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
I wish you much luck sorting this out!
I think that you probably just figured it out for me. I will let you know if I have any success. You have been very patient, as well as helpful.
My pleasure. Good luck!
