Support » Plugin: Disable Gutenberg » WordPress 5.9 Gutenberg for Nav menus

  • Heya, Jeff! More than likely, I will be switching well over 100+ sites over to your plugin.

I’ve got code in functions.php to disable the Garbageberg… sorry… Gutenberg Editor interface on some sites. Others, I’m using the default plugin. And now, the same with the widgets stuff.

And now, with WordPress 5.9, the GutenBORGification (You WILL be assimilated. Resistance is futile!) continues, this time with the navigation menus.

Will you also be “correcting” that forced assimilation attempt, as well?

    Appreciate your work with this!

Hi Douglas, glad to help. When I visit the Menus screen in the Admin Area for WP 5.9, it looks the same as before, no block anything in there. Can you let me know more specifically what you’re looking at or asking about? Where to find, how to replicate, etc.

I saw it mentioned on the WP 5.9 blog page. Look for the section titled “The Navigation block”.

That said, after re-reading this, it appears this is specific to within the editor interface itself. Wouldn’t mind another set of eyes on this to confirm that I swung and missed here (ha!)

    Thanks. 🙂

Yeah it looks like a block for use within the block editor. But your spidey senses may be correct at some point they’ll be cannibalizing the menu/nav screen as well. I would imagine, don’t quote me on that lol 🙂 If/when that happens, we’ll be ready for it.

Appreciate the help, Jeff. Sometimes these ol’ eyes mis-read stuff… sometimes they read between the lines.

I really hope WordPress doesn’t go that route, though.

    Thanks again!
