• Hi,

Just letting you know that the quality setting is (perhaps unsurprisingly) ignored for WebP images using WordPress 5.8’s newly added WebP support. As i had already increased the WebP quality manually, this plugin actually deactivates that and appears to default back to 75.

The JPG’s definitely have a lot more detail to them.

Thank you, will look into this and make it more compatible in the future.

How do you mean you have set this setting manually? If quality setting in plugin is 75 it will also affect webp images uploaded by you.

I meant the script referenced here (using Code Snippets plugin):

    WordPress 5.8 adds WebP support

Of course if your plugin works it’s no longer necessary, but it didn’t. I assume v1.7 fixes that but haven’t tested it.

Does it improve the image rendering engine now with WebP as it does with JPG? Regardless of the quality setting used i mean.
