• Hi When I activate the button on the Dashboard Update screen, the one below the following text:

An updated version of WordPress is available.
You can update to WordPress 5.3.2–en_GB automatically:

Then I quickly receive the message: “Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/en_GB/wordpress-5.3.2.zip…”

    …followed by “Unpacking the update…”

After which nothing happens, even if left to run for 10 or more minutes. It is just hung it seems.

Returning to view or edit the website, nothing has been changes, everything is as prior.

Please assist – what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks ~ John Owen

Could you be out of space on your hosting account?

Hello Steve, and thanks very much for your response. Well, I just checked and it wasn’t lack of space (though it was a good suggestion I thought). It seems I have unlimited space with my host provider (UK2). Speaking to their Support, it seems what I have alos is WordPress managed through ‘Spectaculous’ – some kind of administrative portal management software. This was set to manage WP Updates. And the option for this 5.3.2. Update was indeed displayed there and just needed clicking. So presumably this console being set to manage updates precluded the default client-side built-in function from accomplishing the same end. I think. If this made sense? KRgds ~ John
