Hey Jelle,
I’m sorry there was a problem with our plugin. I haven’t had the time to check it regarding 5.0 compatibility yet.
But it’s on my list for this week! Hope I can give you a positive update on this soon.
Thanks for writing in!
Cheers,
Moritz
Hi @jellevanhoeymissen,
we’ve just published an update to the plugin.
Could you please test it and confirm that it works for you now?
Cheers,
Moritz
Hello
I’m sorry to say so but it still doesn’t work.
When I install the updated plugin, the visual composer remains broken.
All text that should be shown on the composer is gone. However the site still shows the same on the outside.
When I deactivated your plugin, everything worked fine again!
Hi @jellevanhoeymissen,
we’ve fixed 5.0 compatibility at least. I wonder what’s wrong with visual composer. Unfortunately I don’t have the plugin here to test with.
Could you share a screenshot with me, with the developer console open?
Furthermore it would be helpful if you could create an account (that you delete later on) to provide us with for looking at the problem? Send this in a private message.
Hope we can help.
Best,
Moritz
Hey
I have send you an email.
Hi Moritz, thanks for working on this plugin, it’s a great idea!
Unfortunately I’ve been having the same problem, WPBakery doesn’t work when WPGiftRegistry is activated.
Any idea whether this might be able to be fixed?
Thanks!
Dayn
Hey @yabeotnigol,
are you using the latest WPBakery version?
Unfortunately, this is hard to fix for us. The problem seems to lie within a library that we are using for the custom fields of the plugin (CMB2). We’re currently trying to replace this library with a seemingly better one (Carbon Fields), but it’s proven to not be that easy. This will take some time.
I hope we will have this solved in a few weeks. I don’t really know why there are problems with WPBakery at all…
Best,
Moritz
Hello, author of CMB2 here. A site I work on uses WPBakery visual composer and CMB2, and there are no issues. Would like to know more about the issues you are having.
Hey @jtsternberg,
thanks for jumping in here!
Actually, we also use cmb2-conditionals, so the problem might stem from there.
We would be really thankful for any hints that lead to fixing these bugs.
Cheers,
Moritz
Is your plugin on Github by chance? It’s much easier to contribute there.
@jtsternberg I have just made it public, we were developing on github already anyway:

Thanks for your fast replies!
I’m just a beginner with all this, sorry I’m probably not much help.
I’ve updated to the latest WPBakery which didn’t help.
The theme I’m using had both WPBakery and CMB2 come with it.
I’ve worked out how to get around it (probably an obvious thing), I just place another shortcode in where I wanted it through WPBakery, disabled WPBakery and then replaced the shortcode with WPGiftRegistry’s shortcode, and seems to still work when I’ve re-enabled WPBakery.
Seems to be working great – a must have app for any wedding website!
Awesome! Thank you so much for your work, @jtsternberg! No need switching to Carbon Fields then. 😀
I‘m quite positively surprised by your personal unsolicited support!
I will merge in the PR and push this in a new version of the plugin.
Cheers,
Moritz
Hey @jellevanhoeymissen and @yabeotnigol,
thanks to the work of @jtsternberg, I have just released version 1.4.9 with improvements that hopefully fix the faulty behavior of Visual Composer combined with WPGiftRegistry.
Could you please test this release and tell us if it works?
Cheers,
Moritz
