Support » Plugin: Recipes by Simmer » WordPress 4.5.1 Impact on Simmer for Recipes & Links

  • Resolved ftloeks

I upgraded to WordPress 4.5.1. Maintenance Release on 26/04/2016. I have added recipes to my blog using Simmer for Recipes and other general Posts using normal WordPress features. However, I am now unable to insert links into recipes or blog posts to other existing or new recipes added. Existing links work OK. The Insert Link option in both recipes and posts functions as normal and indicates the link has been added. However, as soon as you save this change to the recipe or the post, the saved version has plain text and no link! If you publish the recipe or post it does not show the link. If you try again and go back into it , the same thing occurs. Can anyone help?

  • I have updated to wordpress 4.5.2 and having the same problem.

Links do not work in the recipes.

I have tried everything from re-installing but it still does not work. The only way around it is to use the link tool as normal but take a cope of the URL. Take a look in TEXT mode and you can see that it has not worked. You can then insert it in manually.
Where the link should go, you enter
Then, immediately after the >, enter the text you want to appear as the link and then type

Take a look in TEXT view of a post where you already have a working link and then you sill see what I mean. It is a pain but no one has responded to this post so I am not sure what else to do. I have another technical friend try it out but they do not have the same issue.

Can you send a screenshot please how you did it. I tried this but it didn’t work for me.

    Hi rbennet and ftloeks!

Simmer does not support links in ingredients or instructions. We have a future add-on for this purpose planned but not yet released:

You will have to combine Simmer with another WordPress plugin or customized code to use links in ingredients or instructions. We cannot provide support for plugin code we do not create or control, so we cannot guarantee any plugins will be able to work with Simmer.

Since this request falls outside the current functionality of Simmer, I’m going to mark it as resolved.

    Thank you!
