    Hi everyone!

First of all, sorry if this is posted in the wrong section of the forum.

Second, for few days in a row I receive 1 comment spam originating from .dynamic.ttnet.com.tr different IPs. Unfortunately, this is a residential ISP and blocking it will not do any good in my case (running international blog).

The problem is I already have the 2 following options disabled in my Admin section:

x Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article
x Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks) on new articles

And I still receive some generic, poorly written comments (possibly bot via infected machines, my main suspect):

    [expletive] google
website.com (advertised links are changing, mostly adult sites and such)
    85.101.85.9
    …[Trackback]

[…]The total glance of your site is great, let smartly as the content![…]

Of course, the comment is not entered in my Comments form, because the email field is required and in the above it is missing.

    Why is this still happening?
Is this a potential problem in v4.5 (latest stable)?

I have really no idea, and already use some very advanced spam protections on my site, but that is not the cause of this issue.

    Thanks,
    Darko

Those options you set only establish the default for future posts/pages.

On existing posts/pages, you need to edit them and then scroll down to the Discussion box below the editor. In there, you’ll see checkboxes to disable trackbacks and comments on the specific existing post/page.

(If you don’t see a Discussion box below the editor, hit the Screen Options tab near top-right and check Discussion to enable those settings.)

    Thanks James,

I was not aware of that fact. Regrettably, there is no mention of the mode of operation in the admin section about it and this is a real problem, particularly for novice users not familiar with trackback/pingback feature.

Additionally, it would be nice to have an option next to it to apply the setting(s) retro-actively to all previously published posts.
