I don’t have a solution so far, but I can reproduce that issue on one of my sites. I will let you know, if I have found a fix for that.
Our pagination has also been affected since upgrading to 4.4.1.
Same issue as elitepixels… any user that clicks on page 2 and on, gets redirected to the homepage/page 1.
Seems like this isn’t an isolated issue to our website. I wonder if it’s some sort of bug in the WP update.

The issue is the homepage pagination being broken.

Homepage has been set to “/Portfolio” slug. Hope this makes sense 🙂

Ah right, the pagination is up there. 🙂 I’m going to investigate this further and I’ll keep you posted here.
This bug is being Trac’ed in this core ticket:

You may want to “watch” that ticket by clicking a button in the Notifications section toward the bottom to watch progress on it.
I’ll let you know if we come up with any workarounds in the meantime.
I, and a few others, confirmed that @dd32’s patch on the ticket does work, so if you’re comfortable changing a few lines of PHP that is a good temporary workaround until the patch makes it into the next core update.
I’ve encountered a similar issue. I’m currently using the Portfolio+ Theme. After my website was automatically updated to WordPress 4.4.1. the pagination on my homepage has been adversely affected. As you scroll down the page the theme allows more photographs to load. Instead of loading my entire portfolio it repeats the same 9 images that constitute my homepage. I’ve contacted the theme’s developer Devin Price but I have yet to receive a reply.

Lyra8 – that does not sound like the same issue as this one, which is a redirect on pagination links. Since you’ve already contacted the developer, your best bet is to wait for a reply from him.
It’s not the same but “Similar”. As you scroll down the page the image links repeat, as in a loop. Thanks anyway. I’ll wait on the developer.
It is the same issue. Portfolio+ uses an ajax request to pull posts from the next page. Since the next page is redirecting to the home, it just pulls the same images over and over.
