Same problem updates to 4.2. Appeared that the core update also hung.
    Refresh fixed that issue.

Updated 4 plugins and site went into maintenance mode for long period.

Then finally returned with each plugin failed due to write permission on plugin directory.
    “could not remove old plugin”

But plugins had been deleted. Plugin list showed all plugins minus the four just upgraded.

Re-installing from plugin extension library resulted in error “unable to create plugin directory”

Only way to recover plugins was to install them via FTP.

    Website host IIS 7

So, here’s all the information I got: http://dd29932.kasserver.com/infophp.php

I’m no admin, so I don’t know where the problem is coming from. I use wordpress for over a decade now and I never had any issues 🙂

    Same problem on several sites.
Automatic process is able to dlete the old plugin directory, but can’t create the new one.
Updating manually the plug-in vi ftp, all works fine

I have already 3 plugins in the queue that require an update, but the update function stopped working. Bulk update as well as individual update keep stalling since upgrade to WP 4.2.

Same problem here. Updates get stuck after maintenance mode is activated by WordPress.
