Ya know, I think my websites updated. I’ve checked a few and they are at 4.9.6. I usually get an email when they update but this time I didn’t. Anyhow, it looks like I was just a little impatient.
Hi @oakhillman,
Sorry for the delayed reply. Glad to know that you have got websites updated. I’m marking this thread as resolved. Please feel free to reply, if you have any further questions
Our websites(40+) haven’t updated very much like the original poster, we are still waiting for it to happen, never had an issue where they didn’t update? this is across two different servers as well
As I mentioned, my sites did update but not as soon as they usually do when a WordPress version is released.
I did note you said that, i’m curious how long did it take?, up until now it’s happened usually within 12 hours of being released using this plugin.
I actually don’t know exactly when because I didn’t get any emails from the websites saying that WordPress was updated. I usually do, and for at least a couple of years I’ve just taken it for granted that I get an email from each site saying that WordPress was updated. It could be WordFence was sending it, I actually don’t know. I run WordFence on all of my sites.
If I was to guess I would say it was somewhere between 3 and 5 days before my sites updated. And like you, that seems very slow compared to previous times. Like you said “within 12 hours” is what I would say is the rate at which all previous updates happened, but for some reason this one (4.9.6) was quite a bit slower.
Hi @dccs52 and @oakhillman,
Like you said WP checks for updates every 12 hours and when it is available Easy Updates Manager does updates your site. It is a cron job, so there needs to be some visitor to visit your site to trigger the crob job. Or there may be too many cron jobs in queue that causes the delay.
If you happen to have WordPress 4.9.3 then you need to do manual update. See the bug details here…
WordPress 4.9.4 Maintenance Release

@venkat,
Thanks for that information. Because I’ve been running Easy Updates Manager for at least a couple of years, my site were all updating from 4.9.5.

Ok, here’s what actually happened. Looks like auto-updates were disabled for a few days. Be sure to read the entire thing including the update at the end.

At least now i know i wasn’t going crazy and nor was it to do with the server setup. Thanks all, useful to know this for the future! Special thanks to @oakhillman
