 * Just updated to WordPress from 3.5 to 3.5.1 and clicking through the admin area
   takes an excessive amount between clicks, around 7 seconds vs 900ms in WP 3.4.2.
   I’ve tried running with the default theme, disabled all plugins, activated the
   debugger, checked for server errors, checked htaccess, made sure all resources
   were from the current url, but nothing seems apparent. To be clear, the website
   runs snappy, but the admin area is so slow, not just saving posts. Running PHP
   5.3.20, tried with PHP 5.2.7
    Has anyone else faced the same problem?

 * Google developer tools or firebug console say anything?

 * Who is the host?

 * Andrew, one of the plugins I use, Royal Slider, returns a js error: ‘jQuery is
   not defined,’ on the wp-login.php page, but not within the admin area itself.
   Actually, there aren’t any console errors within the admin area.
 * [@songdogtech](https://wordpress.org/support/users/songdogtech/), Bluehost is
   hosting the site. Not on that particular server, but I have other WP sites (v
   3.4.2) hosted with them and haven’t had any severe latency issues now or in the
   past. I’ve contacted Blueshost on 3 separate occasions, and they give me the
   same feedback. They keep trying to push CloudFlare on me.
 * The time an admin page takes to load is random. On average it’s 3 to 6 seconds,
   which is still a bit slow compared to WP 3.4.2, but acceptable. But, at times,
   more than usual it takes 12 seconds or longer.
 * According to this screenshot
    [http://cl.ly/image/060V1l1O3F0H](http://cl.ly/image/060V1l1O3F0H)
   is the time it took for me to go from “Media” to clicking on “Pages.” Mind you,
   all I have is 10 pages total. Then after that, from “Pages” to clicking on “Themes,”
   it took 12 seconds. [http://cl.ly/image/3V030n2g0x1J](http://cl.ly/image/3V030n2g0x1J)
 * Although, I have plugins active now, the problem has been the same, especially
   looking at the last screenshot. Any ideas?

 * Are they all on the same server or not?
 * BH won’t admit that some of their servers get hammered by abusive users; in my
   experience, you have to lean on them get them to look at loads on their servers
   and ask them to move your account to another box. The front end of the site can
   be OK while the backend and Cpanel can be very slow. Their customer service is
   much worse than a few years ago.
