Just updated to v3.5 and the “Preview” for pages is not working. What gets displayed is the old/current page and the changes that I’ve made to a page are not displayed until I update the page.

Some of my sites are still on 3.4.2 and those page previews are working just fine. Page Preview for the two sites that I just upgraded to 3.5 is not working.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

*Sigh* – yes, switching to the new native theme works. Wow, I hope this is not breaking a lot of themes, I’ll have a boatload of work to do.

I have found the same problem, however making a change in the HTML tab, does show itself on the preview page. So it’s only on changes done in the visual tab that does not work for me..

I upgraded to WordPress 3.5 and now I can’t insert any pictures on the pages. I tried deactivating all the plugins and emptying the cache but it didn’t work. I tried activating the plugins one by one but that didn’t show anything either, so then I tried creating a new Page with all the plugins deactivated and I can’t use the Visual tab. It only allows me to use the Text tab and if I try to upload a picture nothing happens. I’m not sure where the problem is. WordPress mentioned a potential problem with Javascript? With the plugins activated, Black Studio TinyMCE will show a toolbar in the widget and did load a picture, but Ultimate TinyMCE will not load. I’ve been communicating with them also but so far haven’t gotten any feedback yet. Any idea where the problem could be? The website is http://fine-sms.com

@cp8980 Could you please stop reply to multiple threads like this with your issue? That’s considered spamming.

    Try Esmi’s advice above.

If that doesn’t work for you (really, do all of those steps) then please start your own topic with your own details. It’s the best way to get focus on your problem directly and you can provide more details for your setup there.

@randyking, were you able to figure out exactly what was causing the issue and whether or not it is theme related or a 3.5 bug? I’m having the same problem, and like you, I’m really hoping this isn’t affecting a lot of themes with the 3.5 upgrade. I’d appreciate if you could share any info you have discovered.

    Thanks!

@sparklogix – per the forum guidelines, please start your own thread – it’s unlikely your issue is identical unless you are using the same theme on the same server with the same plugins. You will need to start troubleshooting your own site.

It’s NOT a 3.5 bug – if it were, a whole heck of a lot more people would have major problems.

I was just asking if he had found the problem to his issue. It’s not entirely impossible that it could help me. I was not asking for someone to solve my problem, my question was directed towards the thread author about the problem he was experiencing.

And not all bugs have major problems.

Hey, Spark – It was the theme. Apparently, some older less-maintained themes are going to break with WP3.5 and up. Perhaps the theme developer took some shortcuts or did some “clever” things that were never really supported in the WP Core but worked nonetheless – until now.

I attempted to contact the theme developer with no response. I took that as a “we’re not supporting this theme anymore”.

As WPyogi said – it’s not WP 3.5 or there would be a lot of screaming; it is likely liberties that the theme developer took.

As for me – it was an opportunity to freshen one of my sites with a new look. AND I still have that theme running – for now – on some sites where I don’t do a lot of editing, which is where it was impacted.
