“We received a data structure that is not the expected array when contacting the Wordfence scanning servers and calling the ‘get_patterns’ function.”

This is a relatively new issue. I don’t know what triggered it.

Are you able to shed any light?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi @jack_martin_leith,

What version of PHP are you running? You can check this in Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page in the “PHP” section.

Hiya Gerald. Thanks for making contact. PHP version is 5.6, the highest available with the current hosting package. I intend to migrate to a cloud-based server but can’t afford for my site and email to be down for three days.

    Hey @jack_martin_leith,

What version of Wordfence are you running? Can you make sure it’s the latest version 7.2.4?

Also, can you please email me your Diagnostics report? From the WordPress Dashboard navigate to Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics then click SEND REPORT BY EMAIL to send it to wftest@wordfence.com. Please also add your WordPress.org username and update this post so we’ll know what it’s in reference to.

    Thanks,

    Gerald

Hello again Gerald. Thanks for your second message. Please refer to my reply to your first one. I’ll just have to do without WordFence until I can spare the three days it will take to migrate the site from the hosting company’s Plesk server to its cloud-based server.

    Hey @jack_martin_leith,

Sounds good. Please let me know when you’re set back up.

Once you’re set back up can you do the following so I can get the information I need to help you?

    • Kill the existing scan if it is still running (The “Start New Scan” button turns in to a “Stop” button while the scan is running)
    • Go to your Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling page and locate the “Performance Options”
    • Set “Maximum execution time for each scan stage” to 20 on the options page
    • Click to “Save Changes”
    • Go to the Tools > Diagnostics page
    • In the “Debugging Options” section check the circle “Enable debugging mode”
    • Click to “Save Changes”
    • Start a new scan
    • Copy the last 20 lines from the Log (click the “Show Log” link) or so of the activity log and paste them here

    Thanks,

    Gerald
