• Hello,

I am just writing this to let you know that, since the recent update with WordFence and WordPress, my site is experiencing an issue with WordFence. I noticed that whenever WordFence is activated, it could consume a lot of CPU resources and crash the site occasionally.

For now, I’ve left WordFence deactivated.

  • I’m also having a problem after the upgrade.

I’ve tried removing the plugin folder and re-installing clean.

Intermittently I receive this error. I can refresh and the page will load eventually. Then it happens again.

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator and inform them of the time the error occurred, and the actions you performed just before this error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Any suggestions? This did not happen before the update.

    Hi @silvalau
Do you have any reports from your hosting provider regarding this issue? any more details would be helpful.

@waynemeyers checking the server error log files should reveal more details about “internal server errors”, so please whenever this happens again, check the server error logs and let me know what you will get.

    Thanks.

Also for trouble shooting, turn off all Wordfence scanning and try running Wordfence without scanning. Beyond that, I can share that in my case it was important to purchase Premium version and schedule scans for server off-hours, as well as times when other CPU intensive tasks were not activated, such as server backups. FYI, in my case I only scan once a week. I put my energy and server resources into proactive defense, such as multiple redundant backups and aggressive IP blocking. In my opinion, Wordfence scanning is way over emphasized, and often takes more time and energy to manage than it’s worth.

(Disclaimer, I’m not associated with Wordfence, just a sometimes satisfied and sometimes dissatisfied customer.)

    MTN
