    Hello,

I’ve suddenly encountered an issue where WordFence is giving me a “HTTP response code 403” error and block when I attempt to upload a new file using Download Manager (W3Eden Plugin). I’ve been using Download Manager since I first created this website, and have been using WordFence just as long. I have not had any issues before now. The file is a PDF, again I have been uploading PDFs for as long as I’ve been operating this website with no issues.

I have checked my Live Traffic stats and do not see this error message generated in the logs. The only new plugin I have added recently is Yoast Premium, an upgrade from Yoast Free. I have verified Yoast Premium is not causing the conflict.

    Any assistance is appreciated.

    Ron

Hi @redtravelmaster, thanks for seeking our help with this problem.

Before we start to consider whether there is a deeper issue with the plugins not playing nicely together, something could have changed in a recent update that now causes Wordfence to see this as an action to block. I recommend you try Learning Mode first to tell the firewall to see this as a normal action.

From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now perform the upload PDF process. This will help Wordfence learn that these actions are normal and it will allow them in the future. After you have finished performing the actions, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting. Now test to see if these actions work correctly.

https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/ is an amazing resource for learning more about the WAF and learning mode.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
