Im trying to add my first calendar and for some reason, the titles won’t drop onto the next line on month view and just cuts off instead of adding a line and dropping down.

Looking at other screenshots im not sure why this appears on my own as it seems to format better on others screenshots.

If i max my screen, I can see more of the title as the calendar gets bigger (More room), but still same thing happens

    Hi @jmgrice

Thanks so much for reaching out!

Can you provide me with a link to your main calendar page so that I can take a look?

    Thanks,

    Hi @jmgrice

I do see this occurring on your site, but I’m not able to reproduce it locally.

Can you try switching to the updated calendar views under Events Settings > Display and see if the display improves that way?

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks,
    Jaime

    Hi Jaime,

    Thanks for the response

That setting is already selected, I’ve tried setting it up on a new page and the issue still persists

    Hi @jmgrice

I’m sorry to hear that you are still experiencing this issue.

It’s possible that a conflict is causing this issue.

Can you try a quick test and see if the functionality works as expected with a bare WordPress install? A bare install is basically a default WordPress theme like Twenty Twenty and no other plugins besides ours installed. You may want to consider trying this out on a staging site so that you don’t have to switch things around on your live site.

Let me know how that goes!

    Thanks,
    Jaime

    Hi Jaime

    Thanks for your response,

I have started a subdomain to step through the process to see when it occurs as changing my theme temporary didn’t fix the issue.

The issue appears when selecting ‘all day’ event checkbox.

The issue I have it that, when putting a time in for the event, the formatting tabs in under the time. When having multiple events on the same day, potentially with different time windows, This doesn’t leave as much room as say, putting the time in the title itself allowing all the white space to be used and the color to fill to the edges. And ends up squashing the text in.

Is there any reason why the all day event wouldn’t apply word wrap? Or anyway I can get around it?

    Thanks

Im not sure if its relevent, but I’ve also noticed the following:

If the event is multi day between 2 times, say, 8am and 4pm, it acts the same as an all day event, and doesn’t display the time. The time is only ever displayed when it is a single day event.

I don’t want the time to display, but thought it strange that the behaviour changes in this way.

Ideally I just want to be able to select all day event, take care of the time in the title, and then word wrap still work

    Hi @jmgrice

Thanks for your responses. I’m still not able to replicate this issue locally with multi-day events.

What I’d recommend here would be to try some CSS added to those events.

You can use Google Chrome Developer Tools to inspect the elements:

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks,

Thanks again for the response, did you try setting a single day event to “All day event” underneath where you set the time?

As It happens even on a basic new installation and no other data when I try it

I’ll take a look at the CSS, but last time I looked, Setting th object to specify word wrap didn’t change the behaviour

    Hi @jmgrice

Sorry for the pause, Jaime is out at the moment and I discovered this thread.

I am sorry, I’m a bit confused about the conversation above and what you would like to achieve. Could you please clarify? Something like:

“For all day events I want the time to show up in the same line as the event title.”

Pre-note: if what you want cannot be achieved with CSS, then you might be able to do it with a template override.

Let me know and I’ll do my best to help.
