• Hey guys,
    I want to create speicfic meta data fields on my posts, right now there’s “Author name”, Date, and “comments” and I can’t add anything besides them.

    Is there a tool that can help me out with creating new meta data fields and then make sure they will show on the preview of my articles on my blog page?

  • Hi there,

    There are a ton of great plugins that help with expanded meta data options for improved SEO.

    Here’s a quick search for you: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/seo/

    Have you checked out any of these? 🙂

    I believe OP is referring to “metadata” (ie data about data, or information relating to a page/post), and not the HTML meta tag.

    If my thinking is correct, then “Custom Fields” would be the way to go to add custom metadata: https://wordpress.org/support/article/custom-fields/

    Plugins like Advanced Custom Fields and Meta Box provide a better UI to manage custom fields:

    Good luck!

    @gappiah Thanks for your Help!
    I believe that I need to insert some kind of code to it?..
    If there’s anything you know without needing to actually add code, I will appreciate it if you can plug me to it 🙂

    Did you checkout any of the resources I provided?

    If you choose to work with Custom Fields directly, you’ll first have to define the custom fields (ie key-value pairs) in the WordPress post editor. Then, yes, you’ll have to write some code to output those custom fields in the desired location on your website. The link I provided has details and links to additional resources.

    If you choose to use a plugin, then then you don’t need to write any code. But you’ll still have to configure the plugin to create the desired meta boxes and output the metadata in the desired location on your website. Review the plugin links I gave.

    What you’re asking for is open-ended. So don’t expect to find a snippet of code to copy and paste or a button to click to magically create all your desired metadata for you.

    Good luck!
