WooPayments 10.8.0 onboarding crashes on dropdown

    Description:

    I’m trying to complete the WooPayments onboarding (business information step) on my site hosted on Hostinger. When I click any dropdown in the business information form, the page goes blank and the following error appears in the browser console:

    What I have already tried:

    1. Cleared browser cache and cookies
    2. Tested in incognito mode — same error
    3. Deactivated all plugins except WooCommerce and WooPayments — same error
    4. Checked Network tab in DevTools — all requests return HTTP 200, including therequests.

    Context:
    The WordPress.com connection itself completed successfully (I was able to authenecifically on the next step when filling in the business information form —clicking any dropdown triggers the crash.

    Request:
    Is this a known bug in WooPayments 10.8.0? Is there a workaround or a patch available?

    From what you described, this does appear more consistent with a JavaScript issue or regression within the onboarding flow itself, particularly since the crash is triggered specifically when interacting with the dropdown fields in the business information step.

    1. Your full System Status Report (SSR) from WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.

    3. Could you also confirm whether the issue still occurs if you temporarily switch to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty Four?

    Additionally, if you have access to your site logs, please check for any WooPayments related fatal errors under WooCommerce > Status > Logs around the time the crash happens.

    Once we have the above details, we’ll be able to take a closer look and determine whether this is a known issue with WooPayments 10.8.0 or something environment specific.

    Hi @paul2411,

    Thank you for sharing the screenshot and confirming that the issue also occurs with the default Twenty Twenty-Five theme active. The console error is very helpful here.

    Since the issue persists during onboarding, the next important step would be to perform a complete plugin conflict test, including temporarily disabling any active MU plugins as well, since MU plugins remain loaded even during standard plugin testing.

    Please try the following:
    – Deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce and WooPayments
    – Temporarily disable the custom MU plugins located under /wp-content/mu-plugins/
    – Keep the default Twenty Twenty-Five theme active
    – Then retry the WooPayments onboarding flow and test the dropdown fields again

    I noticed several custom MU plugins and custom checkout related functionality in the SSR, so it would be important to rule those out completely before we conclude this is a WooPayments regression.

    If the issue still happens after the full conflict test, please let us know and we’ll continue investigating further from there.

    Hi,

    I disabled all plugins, I renamed all mu-plugins in name.php.bak.

    Only Woocommerce and WOopayments are enable with Twenty twenty five theme.

    I switched to private navigation to disable browsers extensions.

    Just wanted to clarify that there is no known bug about this so far, so it appears to be specific to your environment.

    For testing, I can see that you have been trying to use Brave. However, I wonder if you could you try a different browser, such as Google Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, without using any browser extensions?

    Hi,

    That’s weird. I just installed WooCommerce on another website on the same Hostinger server, and the same issue happens. So I decided to switch to another provider and another server (SiteGround). I installed WooCommerce on another website — and the same issue again!

    I tried Firefox, Brave, and Chrome. Same thing. I also tried on a different computer. It might be related to the WordPress.com account or service. What do you think? I tried to create a new account on WordPress.com and, surprisingly, I got a blank page as well: https://wordpress.com/setup/onboarding/user/fr?start_ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.com%2F

    Is it just me, or do you get the same thing?

    I also ruled out the WordPress.com account as the culprit by creating a new account (I finally managed it). Same issue.

    Okay, we’ve confirmed a bug in WooCommerce 10.8.0 affecting the “legal entity type” dropdown during WooPayments live account onboarding. The good news is that our developers have already identified the root cause and are actively working on a fix, which we expect to ship in a patch release soon 🙂

    In the meantime, you can get past this by downgrading WooCommerce to version 10.7.0:

    1. Download WooCommerce 10.7.0 from here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce/advanced/
    2. On your site, go to **Plugins > Installed Plugins** and upload the previous version and replace the current one with version 10.7.0
    3. Retry the WooPayments onboarding. The business type dropdown should work as expected.

    Once you’ve completed onboarding, you’ll be able to update WooCommerce back to the latest version when the patch is released.

    Nevertheless, you can wait for the patch that our developers will ship soon!
