Shop is set up and has been for some time but for some reason we are taken to the WooCommerce setup page every time we click the WooCommerce link, for some users more than others. Finishing the setup again makes no difference it just keeps comming back.

Inbox is not showing up but returns an error, don’t know if it is related

I have tried deactivating plugins that might conflict but without luck, I hope you can help 🙏🙂

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @rittermann,

Thank you for sharing your System Status Report! It seems to be all okay!

However, kindly note that we couldn’t replicate the issue on our end, which suggests a conflict may be causing this behavior.

To troubleshoot further, please follow these steps for a plugin and theme conflict test:

    1. Switch to a default theme like Storefront or Twenty Twenty-Five.

    2. Deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce.

    3. Check if the issue persists when accessing the WooCommerce link or the Inbox.

    4. If the issue resolves, reactivate plugins one by one, testing each time, to identify the conflicting plugin.

If the issue persists, please check under WooCommerce > Status > Logs for any fatal error logs and share them with us.

I recorded a video of the process: https://youtu.be/BFNgeavlt2o

Log for “plugin-woocommerce” shows this error:

2024-12-13T07:19:35+00:00 Advarsel Empty patterns received from the PTK Pattern Store

I hope this will give you a good idea of the problem and how to solve it. 🙏🙂

    Hi there!

I’m getting a “Video is private” notice and am unable to watch the video. However, the issue related to “PTK Pattern Store” was resolved in the latest version of WooCommerce, as mentioned here. Could you please ensure you are using the latest version of WooCommerce?

Regarding the WooCommerce setup wizard appearing repeatedly, just to verify—have you tried running a conflict test as mentioned by my colleague in the previous response? Was your issue resolved during the conflict test?

If you haven’t run a conflict test yet, here are step-by-step instructions on how to do so: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.

If your issue presist, could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Download for support” (after you scroll down a bit)”. Once done, please upload it to this chat.

Video should be public to those with link now – the video is screen recording of the conflict test.

I have sent the Systems Report 4 times – but you want it again?

    Hello rittermann,

Thank you for sharing the video.

After watching the video, I noticed that you did not deactivate Legacy REST API and WP Mail SMTP plugins. Could you try deactivating these two plugins and then activate the plugins that are shown active in the video at 5:00 time?

This will clarify two things, first whether Legacy REST API and WP Mail SMTP plugins are causing the problem or not. Second, whether this is related to specific plugins like X-Currency Pro and YayPricing lite.

Let me know about your findings.
I found the report in the previous messages so there is no need to share it again for now.

Looking forward to your response. 🙂

    Hi Zubair,

    I made a new video of your requests – but I still can’t find a pattern – I hope you can 🙂

    Hello rittermann,

    Thank you for your reply.

I appreciate your time to make this video.
At the moment, it is not quite clear what is causing the problem but it does look like a plugin conflict.

The WooCommerce setup wizard checks for specific criteria:
    – It checks whether the woocommerce_onboarding_profile option is set or if it’s incomplete.
    – If the version in woocommerce_version does not match the plugin version, the onboarding might also retrigger.

To troubleshoot further, I suggest trying combinations of the following plugins:
    1- WooCommerce Legacy REST API
    2- X-Currency
    3- X-Currency-Pro
    4- YayMail
    5- YayPricing Lite.

Please make sure all other plugins are disabled.
I hope this test will give us some clues and help us find the cause of the problem.

Looking forward to your response. 🙂

Video with the asked plugins – no setup screen: https://youtu.be/o74T_Akw-To

    Tried other combinations: https://youtu.be/sx6lSyQECZc

Found out that I am not getting the setup screen as often when Legacy API and Shipmondo are deactivated – but turning on one of them will make it appear every time. When deactivating them the setup screen still appears some times

    Hi @rittermann,

Thank you for sharing all the details and the videos—it’s clear you’ve done a lot to troubleshoot this, and I really appreciate the effort you’ve put in so far!

I installed the WooCommerce Legacy REST API and the Shipmondo for WooCommerce plugins on my test site but could not replicate the issue.

Can you please try creating a staging website with a similar setup and see if the issue persists? This will help us determine if the issue is specific to your website or not.

Please let us know what happens!

I tried to recreate the installation from scratch but had a surprising experience when I tried to upload the plugin X-Currency-Pro by Doatcolom – I god an “Intrusion Alert” and my network access was blocked, do you know anything about this plugin being suspicious? – perhaps It is the problem? – I could not find anything negative about this plugin in my search online.

I have other sites running WooCommerce, Shipmondo and Legacy API without problems.

    Hi @rittermann,

Thanks for sharing these updates and for the steps you’ve taken so far to troubleshoot the issue. It sounds like you’ve been very thorough in trying to identify the root cause.

Regarding the initial issue of being redirected to the WooCommerce setup page and the Inbox returning an error, those could potentially be related to plugin conflicts or even issues with the site’s database. Since you encountered an “Intrusion Alert” while trying to upload the X-Currency-Pro plugin, it’s possible that this plugin is playing a role in the problems you’re experiencing.

While I couldn’t find specific information about the X-Currency-Pro plugin being suspicious, I recommend reaching out directly to the plugin authors to verify its compatibility and address the alert you received. They’ll have the most insight into how their plugin interacts with WooCommerce.

If the setup page redirection issue doesn’t occur when the X-Currency-Pro plugin is inactive, it’s likely the plugin is causing the problem. However, if the issue persists even without the plugin, it might be worth checking your site’s database for any lingering entries that could trigger the redirection. Additionally, clearing WooCommerce transients and cache might help resolve the Inbox error.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out again if you need further assistance—happy to guide you further!

The problem remains also with the X-Currency-Pro plugin deactivated – how do I check if there are lingering entries in the database?

    Hello rittermann,

    Thank you for your reply.

It would be best to contact X-Currency-Pro support and ask them this question.
Since this is a 3rd party plugin I cannot know how it operates at the backend.
Official plugin support should have the knowledge and resources to help you with their plugin.

Let me know how it goes. 🙂

    Best regards.

    Happy New Year 🎉

I have not gotten any response from X-Currency-Pro, but i continued working on the clean install – and for a moment I thought I found the problem.

I installed the “WooCommerce Legacy REST API” because it is needed for an other plugin. This did not trigger anything – but when I change to WordPress posts storage (legacy) the problem starts – when changing to HPOS it stoped for a few times – but I then got the warning that Legacy REST API is not compatible with HPOS.. – I think this is what triggered the problem, but changing the settings back did continue to keep the wizard away – only for a few times.

I came across another person with the same problem with the same webhost which made me wonder if this is a host relates issue if you have not been able to produce the error elsewhere?

    Zee

    (@doublezed2)

    Hello rittermann,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand you’re seeing a conflict between the Legacy REST API and HPOS on your current host, and you’re wondering if this could be host-related, especially since another user reported the same issue with the same provider.

Testing your site on a different host can help confirm whether the issue relates to your current hosting environment. You don’t need to migrate the entire site; you can only clone it to a host that offers temporary domains and pay-per-hour usage. Some modern hosts also provide automated tools to clone your site with a few clicks.

This way, you can test without long-term commitments and delete the cloned site afterward.
Feel free to reply if you have any questions or concerns.

    Best regards.
