Hi all. Im super confused and would love assistance of any sort. Bear with my silly questions – Im just getting back into work and have verrrry low vision.

I created the site above, Home page, services page, etc. Easy. Now adding e-commerce component. Im using WordPress, elementor, ocean wp and woocommerce (exact versions can be supplied if needed.) I have added 47 products, and added a brand plugin to capture that data. All fine so far. Added a wishlist plugin, after set up wizard it created a ‘wishist’ page etc all fine. But where do i locate the shopping ‘page’…like home and contact us has a page, where is the shop page?? I followed a tute online, under appearance, woocommerce, they had a few extra options as what i have. is this the issues? i want to locate the page so im able to play around with the product filters and overall llook. Am i looking for somthing that exists???

Online tutorial: from the dashboard, go to Appearance, Woocommerce, listed options here are Site Notice, Product Catalog, Product Page, Product Image, Checkout.
My dashboard items are different: Appearance, Woocommerce, then i see Store Notice, Checkout, Menu cart, etc (I dont have product Catalog, product page) Is this the problem?
Any form of assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks

  • Hi,
I hope this helps you. After setting up Woocommerce, go to dashboard>woocommerce> Settings> Products> General>Select Shop for Shop Page field . After Save Changes, go to dashboard>apperence>menu> you will find the Automatic Shop page there. add the shop page in your menu and save Changes.

    Hi @assunta5722,

I see @nadiaakther has already explained how to set your shop page and to add it to your menu.

Just to touch on a few other things on your post:

like home and contact us has a page, where is the shop page??

Like your other pages, it is still located in WordPress → Pages. You’ll notice that it’s designated as -Shop Page.

i want to locate the page so im able to play around with the product filters

On OceanWP, you’ll want to do this from Appearance → Customize → Widgets and add the filters to the WooCommerce sidebar. Note that when you switch themes, your sidebars might also vary.

My dashboard items are different: Appearance, Woocommerce, then i see Store Notice, Checkout, Menu cart, etc (I dont have product Catalog, product page) Is this the problem?

Not really a problem. Different themes might have subtle differences when it comes to the options available here. I have used OceanWP, these are the usual options available.

Hope this helps, let us know if we can be of further assistance.

My goodness you guys are amazing, thank you so much!!!

I linked the shop page in woocommerce, products, general. All understood and sorted.
Despite setting full width page (as i want filters etc across the top of the product grid) and categories as dropdown style in Appearance, neither are taking effect on the live page.
When i try to edit the Shop page with elementor (free version) I get the following error message??

Sorry the content area was not found in your page. You must call the*content function in the current template, in order for elementor to work on this page.

Is there a work around to content function??

    Thank you in advance

    Thanks for getting back @assunta5722.

Sorry the content area was not found in your page. You must call the*content function in the current template, in order for elementor to work on this page.

This error is specific to Elementor, most likely because you’re trying to edit a shop page. I would suggest directly contacting them regarding how to handle this, here’s their forum: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/elementor/

I see that they’ve explained more about it here (scroll to #2 on that page): https://elementor.com/help/the-content-area-was-not-found-error/

Just to mention, while we can assist with the core WooCommerce plugin, for issues touching on other plugins, you’re normally best placed getting in touch with the respective plugin developers.

    Many thanks.
