Support » Plugin: WooCommerce » Woocommerce set to tax free, but adding tax at Paypal site

I just got finished talking to Paypal support for quite some time and they don’t know what the issue is, everything looks fine on their end and say I should talk to Woocommerce support…

My issue is that I am selling products that are supposed to be tax-free, and I configured Woocommerce appropriately…as seen in my shopping cart when I test it out, there is zero tax added…But once taken over to Paypal and logging in, these settings are apparently not being passed on to Paypal as they are adding tax on the Paypal side.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Hi there Tina,

Since taxes are applied once you log-in to PayPal it’s most likely within your PayPal settings that you need to disable tax rates. Can you please confirm you have haven’t configured taxe rates within PayPal settings?

No taxes are configured in PayPal. The PayPal tech support lady even confirmed it.

I found this that sounds similar, and mentions express checkout?

So far I am not finding anything on this express checkout…did the name change or it get integrated or something?

    Hey @sunflowermom,

There are quite a few different ways to use PayPal with WooCommerce. Are you using the PayPal Standard that is built into WooCommerce or a PayPal plugin? If you’ll let us know which one you’re using, that would be helpful.

Also, could you please send me a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here.

    Thanks!

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
