• I never payed attention to it because it’s so basic ;), but someone pointed out to me that the search function isn’t working, even when using words that are in the title of the product.

Any idea’s? I’m not using any other search plugins. Just tried Relevanssi which does give me a search result, but not styles like in the shop.

I’m using Genesis and Dynamic Website Builder.

  • WooCommerce doesn’t change or add to the search functionality of WordPress. You’re right that using a plugin like Relevanssi or Search Everything is the way to go because they will search the product data. But, even without a plugin a search should find title text, such as this search of a test site that has the demo data installed. I searched for “Woo” and got products with that string in the title: http://cl.ly/image/1k2o3T462I11

This was using the normal site search and the products were styled based on the site’s theme.

There is a “WooCommerce Product Search” available under Appearance > Widgets in the admin area. If you add this to a sidebar customers can search products only.

Since this is only searching the product custom post type the results are displayed like the shop page: http://cl.ly/image/0G1E1N2t3x1f
Notice the search string includes my text and also “post_type=product”

    Thanks for the reply Daniel.

The widget you mentioned is exactly which is giving no results. It’s Woocommerce’s own widget that is not working for me.

But wait… I just tried it again and now I do get results!? I didn’t change anything, and yesterday I really emptied all the cache etc. 🙁

Hope it stays this way. The only thing I do notice that it searches for strings in the title, but it doesn’t search within Tags. How can I enable that?

Nevermind… Just found a plugin that add tag search 🙂

    Glad it’s sorted!

Jack Member, what was the plugin that you used to add tag search?

hey, you guys, can you post what you did to make it work? Doesn’t work for me either and I’m not so lucky as to have to fix itself. We don’t have any search plugin installed.

I am having the same problem too – any additional info would be greatly appreciated!

This is probably not the best solution but if i deactivate the Relevanssi plugin, the Woo search widget works.

OK, so the solution is to fix the “Product Search” is to use a third party search tool? That doesn’t seem right. Why doesn’t the “Product Search” that shows up in the header of my StoreFront themed page return results? What is it looking for?
