Woocommerce – PayPal API not recognised

Woocommerce has been working ok for 3 months. following recent updates when moving checkout to PayPal am getting message ” PayPal things don’t appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later”
Woocommerce shows the message “Error: The API credentials you provided are not valid. Please double-check that you entered them correctly and try again.” in settings.I have reinput API info (copy/paste) more than once.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled gateway plugin.
Have also set new API with PayPal and input new API info.Any more ideas please?
