Hi I’ve been using woocommerce for a few years now as a novice, Please see youtube video I’ve uploaded with the problem at question.

    link to video

This problem has arisen at least 6 months ago and I haven’t had the need to update products until, so I just though a future update of this will fix it. I updated today to see if this was the issue but no luck.

Problem: The side widgets are unresponsive, cant upload a picture and can’t edit short description.

Please advise on what to do as I am quite a novice.

    Hi there đź‘‹

Thank you for sharing the video!

This kind of problem is usually caused by a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.
The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem

If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    Before you start

    1. First, please make sure you have a good backup in place of your full site and database. Most hosting companies have this included in the subscription, but you could also consider using a service like Jetpack. If something goes wrong, it’s nice to know that you can restore your site.
    2. Second, I would suggest installing a plugin called Health Check & Troubleshooting. This is a plugin developed by the WordPress community and it allows you to disable plugins without affecting your current site visitors.

    I hope that helps!

Hi there, thanks for your reply Gabriel.

I will do this trial and error method you suggested.
I use UpdraftPlus for back-ups, will this suffice?

Thanks so much for the Health Check plugin recommendation.

Could it also be that my theme isn’t updated to the most recent (wpocean)

Hi there after doing the trouble shooting I have identified with your help it is the following two plugins.

“Stripe Payment Gateway for WooCommerce ( Basic )

Version 3.5.3 | By WebToffee | View details”

    “WP Rocket

    The best WordPress performance plugin.
Version 3.8.3 | By WP Media | Visit plugin site”

The plugins are both up-to-date have the same issue as in the video when each said plugins are separately enabled.

These two plugins are needed for my site to work well. I’m sure I can find an alternative for Stripe but the WP Rocket? That’s a strange one? It’s such a well known plug-in.

Please advise if you can on what to do?

    Thanks Alex

    Hi @akweifio,

Thanks for carrying out the test and identifying the culprit plugins.

Since you’d wish to continue using WP Rocket, though it leads to the said issue, you will want to get in touch with the WP Rocket plugin support team to identify/resolve the issue for you.

You can contact them through their contact page:
