Woocommerce: Does the 'Product Short Description' rank?

    I have Yoast SEO installed. My site has been built, and due to the custom layout of the product page, my product descriptions are entered in the ‘Product Short Description’ field rather than the field at the very top of the product edit page, which is the usual place.

    The Yoast plugin doesn’t pick up any of the keywords in the Short Descrip field, in the Page Analysis. However if i copy this into the Top Field in the edit page, Yoast recognizes the Keywords and gives me the Green Light! (although, anything entered in this field does NOT show on my product page)

    My question is will having the product description in the ‘Short Description’ field be picked up by Search Engines? As long as it actually displays on my product page is it all good? OR is the fact that Yoast is not picking this up, a sign that we need to reconfigure how my page is edited?
