• I have been through threads with the same problem but they only lead to the suggestion to change the .htaccess file in the woocommerce downloads folder. None of the other suggestions are relevant such as file permissions, server issues, etc.

I have established it has nothing to do with ‘deny from all’ in the .htaccess file as I have another very similar site with the same host that is working that has the same wording in its .htaccess file. It is, after all, exactly as Woocommerce installs it. I set up WooCommerce with Divi and the settings are the same on both sites. Both sites use ‘force downloads’ setting in Woocommerce (‘Redirect only’ also fails but not with a 403) and are fully https. The product settings for the digital downloads are the same. I recall that I had found a setting for forcing SSL that had to be unchecked on the other site for it to work but that setting does not appear to exist anymore after several rounds of plugin updates. The plugins in use are minimal. Clearly there is something that prevents the digital download mechanism of Woocommerce serving the product (which is coming from the standard woocommerce uploads location and was uploaded in the standard way).

I would be very grateful for any assistance.
