Woocommerce Customers not appearing on WordPress Users list

Hi Forumers
I’ve created a website for my client and imported the old Shopify customer database into WordPress and these customers appear in the Customers tab in the Users section.
They also appear in the Woocommerce Customers list once they make a purchase through the store. However, if a new customer registers via the Woocommerce account page, for some reason they do not appear in the Users list.Is there any way to permanently connect these two databases?
The reason being is that I have just installed a cool little plug-in that shows User’s history in a column to the right featuring colored dots on completed purchases, cancelled purchases etc. I need to be able to see this data for visitors that have registered through Woocommerce.
Don’t want to have to import the WC Customers to WP Users all the time if I can avoid it.

Just to clarify, do you mean that when a user registers via the
My Accountpage:- They are not being added to Dashboard → Users, OR
- They are not being added to Dashboard → WooCommerce → Customers?
If the former, this is unusual behavior, as by default, when a user creates an account directly via the
My Accountspage, they should be added to the Users page.If the latter, this is expected behavior since the user is only added to WooCommerce → Customers once they make a purchase.
Please can you provide additional clarity so that we can have a better understanding of what you are experiencing, as well as more information on what your overall goal is here, allowing us to assist you more accurately 🙂
Also, please can you provide a copy of your sites System Status Report so that we can have a better understanding of your sites current environment.

I understand that customers registering under the My Accounts page is not listed on your Users page, correct?
Can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled and see if this works?
If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.
If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.
If this did not resolve the issue, please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under

I stripped the site back to just jetpack and woocommerce and the new woocommerce customer did indeed add itself to the Users list which is great. I now need to figure out which plug-in is causing the issue.
On another note; I am using the standard Woocommerce interface where the steps in creating an account is as follows:
1. Register by providing your email address
2. Verify the address
3. Brings me to the Dashboard . At this point my username is admin-4272.
4. Click on Account Details to change name. It gives me an option to provide my first and last name and also type in a Display name.However, when I look at the users log; the new customer is listed as the admin-4272. I have to go into the user and update the ‘Nickname’ to the display name.
Why would this happen? How come the Display name isn’t the nickname as well? I know there are separate fields in the User log but this is quite odd.
It provides a nickname if the email address has two parts like bob.citizen but doesn’t when the email is just admin@ or info@It’s not an issue so much in the Woocommerce customer list because that is sorted via the First Name Last Name fields but the User list in WordPress lists the customers by the nickname field which is listed under the heading Username. And is there any way to add a ‘Date Added’ column so that I can see the users in the chronological date that they were added ?

I’d suggest deactivating all plugins except for Jetpack and WooCommerce, and then activating the other plugins, one by one, to identify the cause of the issue.

The reason why the display name isn’t automatically set as the nickname is that these are two separate fields in WordPress (as you mentioned). The nickname field is used for the username, while the display name is used for public display.
And is there any way to add a ‘Date Added’ column so that I can see the users in the chronological date that they were added ?
This is not a default feature in WordPress. However, I came across this article which may be helpful.

Discovered that the SiteGround Optimizer plug-in was causing the issue.
Thanks for explaining the differences between the various fields. I have notices that when a user creates a new account that occasionally, they don’t go to the Account Details section of My account to set a password and their username continues to be admin-????. I wonder if there is a way to force them to put in a display name/username at Registration instead of just their email. That would would resolve the ugly admin username from the beginning. Of course, the next time they login they will be forced to create a password.
Thanks also for the link that provides an option to state ‘Member since…’ information. It’s a pity that we can’t view the Users log by Date Created.

If you would like the user to create their own username on registration and not have this generated for them, you can navigate to WooCommerce → Settings →
Account and Privacy, and uncheck the following option under Account creation:
Additionally, if you would prefer they set their password upon registration, you can disable the following setting under Account creation:
These settings apply for creating an account directly on Checkout, as well as via the My Accounts page.
