• Hi,

My problem: I am setting my coupon code as a ‘cart discount’ for a specific amount, and at checkout it seems like it is adding tax on top! So my coupon code for $50 becomes $53.42 roughly, my $10 coupon is $10.83 at checkout. How is that possible?

Website is antsle.com – obviously would have to add a coupon in a personal message if you were to look how to debug it. Or am I just missing a setting in the backend?

Personal messages aren’t possible through this support forum; Since this would require logging into your website, I’d recommend getting in touch with a web developer to make those changes for you.

    Hey there,

late follow-up. I still haven’t been able to figure this out and we had a web developer look into it! I did a Google search and I am not the only one with that problem (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/coupon-discount-increases-with-sales-tax/).

It looks like sales tax is added to the coupon because it increases proportionally with the amount. Obviously this is causing a lot of problems – I have no idea what zip code (tax rate) a customer will be in so how can I give him an accurate discount?

Either way – how can we resolve this? Any suggestions more than welcome!!!
