• Hey guys,

first there was a product-category named “uncategorized” which is empty and can’t be deleted.

WooCommerce 3.3.1 should fix this issue. But it doesn’t!

With WooCommerce 3.3.1 there was a new product-category named “unkategorisiert”. I was able to delete the product-category named “uncategorized”, but now i can not delete the product-category named “unkategorisiert”.

    so now, what to do?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

This category can not be deleted; it’s where new products will go if you don’t give them a category. You can rename it or hide it from frontend. If it’s empty, in most cases it will be hidden.

I have the same problem! Sorry but this is really annoying… I am not an expert and now this empty category is shown on my frontpage and I cannot delete it. plaese help!

У меня такая же ситуация, есть сгруппированный товар который не имеет категорий и теперь он весь находится в «unkategorisiert» В следующем обновление это будет исправлено?

All products need to be assigned a category. If the uncategorized category is truly empty, it should be hidden.

I can confirm in WC 3.3.1 that an empty ‘uncategorized’ category still shows, even when the count (of assigned products) shows zero.

I had to hide it via CSS.

What about including a checkbox option that asks if we want to display/hide the default ‘uncategorized’ category?

I am having the same problem. There should be an option to hide a particular category from being displayed. Hopefully this will be addressed soon.

My problem is that all of my products are in proper categories, and after the update, the products magically began being added to Uncategorized. They already had a category. There are over 1400 products in this Uncategorized. I tried fixing them, by unchecking the Uncategorized category, which left them only in the correct category, but then more products magically were added to Uncategorized. Very weird, very frustrating.

    Hi Guys,
I solved it after looking around and could not really figure it our at first too. No css, or any codes into functions.php or anything else was working and then, after reading the woocommerce guys explanation it clicked the solution is actually very simple, here it is:
Most of us have product categories assigned right, so either choose the least products in a given category and if 0 products even better, just recreate the category in editing the Uncategorized category with the same details as the already existing. If you have to re-add products then that is what you have to do. That is the least invasive solution.
Sorry that there is no better solution, but with this you have removed all showing up of Uncategorized category on front page anywhere, just recreate an existing one by editing Uncategorized category 🙂

I also have an empty ‘uncategorized’ category after the update.
How do I hide / delete this?

    Same for me!

I tried CSS but that didn’t seem to hide it, so did what tomas2017 said which worked. Would be handy if they provided the option to hide this category at least…

There is a similar discussion on this thread:

Maybe that will work for you as it did for me.

WooCommerce, please give us the option to hide this category via a checkbox. Makes our stores look very unprofessional.

Uncategorized is empty. No products assigned. It is not hidden. It shows / displays in the frontend. This embarrased me infront of my clients. I did not like this.

    Thank you @theprofessor101https://wordpress.org/support/topic/uncategorized-product-category-still-showing-after-3-3-1/

This solution does work but was not ideal and required several hours of reconfig.

Woo Commerce – please create an option to hide this category. I

If it’s not hidden when empty, please report on GitHub with the details (i.e where on what page under what conditions).

@dansperfect why make this personal? Stay classy.

    @Mikejolly. Sure thing.

I am using storefront theme and will attempt to isolate woo commerce from storefront before submitting the issue to GitHub. 🙂

@MikeJolly. am updating my comment. I sincerely did not know storefront was the woo commerce theme. I feel silly and assure you my comments were not meant to be scarcastic or mean spirited. I sincerely appreciate you support & feedback.

To be clearer – i’m using a custom theme that is a child theme of store front.
