WooCommerce Analytics category export doesn’t work

    Hi WooCommerce.

    We have a problem with exporting categories under Analytics. We have a category with 95 products. We are trying to export a list, so we can see how many products that have been sold in the specific category. The list is fine inside WooCommerce, but when we try to export it with the download button, we will get sent a link to our email, so we can download the export.

    When we download the export, all products (not only from the category) is included in the export. I then tried another category, this time with only 8 products, and again tried to download a export, this export got downloaded directly in the browser. But the funny part is, that this export works just like it should.

    So it appears that the error is when a category has to many products. If there is to many products, the export is being generated in the background and sent on email.

    Is there anything we can do to fix this error?

    Hi @mortenz,

    Sorry to hear you’re experiencing this issue within WooCommerce Analytics.

    From what you have described, it seems like code from another plugin or the theme is causing this behavior.

    To see if that is the case, we’d suggest carrying out a conflict test on your site by disabling all other plugins aside from WooCommerce along with switching to a theme like Storefront.

    This will help with trying to and locate what plugin you have installed which could possibly be causing this behavior. You could also use a free plugin called Health Check and Troubleshooting (https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/) to carry out such testing.

    When in Troubleshooting mode all plugins will be deactivated and only the admin of the site carrying out the troubleshooting would see those changes. Any customers visiting the site would see no changes at all.

    Once you have disabled all other plugins and switched theme, if the behavior is resolved, you can then enable your theme first and each plugin one by one and testing after each one is enabled.

    Hi Mirko, Thanks for your reply. I have just tried your idea with Health Check, all plugins except WooCommerce disabled and default theme. The problem still persist. I have also tried on multiply other WordPress installs, even on other webservers.

    Could it be possible that there is a bug, with the download function?

    I can try to send you both exports, so you can see the difference between the one export that works, and the one that doesn’t.

    Hi @mortenz,

    Thanks for updating us on this!

    Just to make sure we’re on the same page. Do you click first on the category and on the following page listing all products on Download to export all products within that category?

    If you do that but still not all products are being exported please share a copy of your System Status and we’ll investigate the issue further. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    It seems that the filter shows more than one category:

    What happens if you click +3 more or +5 more? Do you see the category Calm Design there?

    If you click on “Calm Design” which is a sub-category of Brands you should enter that specific sub-category and all the products related to that sub-category should be listed there. You can then click on Download and WooCommerce Analytics will export only those products under the sub-category Calm Design. Can you please try and let us know?

    Have you tried if it work on a demo shop?

    I’ve tested this on one of my test sites and could not replicate the problem that you’re experiencing (check the video here). I created three products (Red T-Shirt, Blue T-Shirt and Green Tea T-Shirt) and assigned three categories to these products (Sport, New Product and T-Shirt).

    When I go to Analytics > Categories and filter for single category (Sport) all three products are displayed and if I click on “Download” it will generate a CSV file with the products.

    At this point, it sounds like there is a conflict on your site that is preventing the Analytics functionality to work correctly. Further steps would be setting up a staging environment and carry on with troubleshooting.
