Currently I have PDF products in WC. When a PDF is uploaded, a thumbnail is generated that I can use as the WC Product Image. Both the PDFs and their thumbnails generated by WordPress AND the ones created by the plugin I use are stored in woocommerce_uploads folder. When I upgrade to WC 3.5.x, all of the PDF thumbnails are visible only as placeholders in the Media Library and Product Image. The images are still there, just cant be used.
Did something in 3.5 change the way WC uses files in the woocommerce_uploads directory? Downgrading prior to 3.5.x works again. Disabled all plugins, tried Storefront and other themes. Do you have an idea of what I can try?

How can I get WordPress Media Library to display images in woocommerce_uploads directory?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @speakoutenglish,

That directory is and has always been protected; you cannot access files directly there due to htaccess rules blocking direct access, as far as I know. This is done to protect downloads.

You may want to get in touch with the author of the plugin you use to generate those PDF thumbnails, or talk with a developer to help you come up with a custom solution. If you want to go that route, we highly recommend contacting one of the services on our Customizations page (https://woocommerce.com/customizations/).

    Best,

    Ross

Thank you for your email. I have removed the htaccess to try to have the images show. I will try another option, but I wonder what other Woocommerce ysers think when they upload an inage or PDF as a product, at the moment, the automatic thumbnail generation by WordPress happens and the thumbnails are created but not shown in the media library, instead a placeholder is shown.
