Woo too many 429 errores

    When we do a performance scan on our site it reports that Woocommerce is generating 429 errors = “Too many requests. It was 44 and afetr flushubf the cache it came down to 14. We are using Woo with Storefront.

    It appears that all pages and even those with no product data or processing data has the following appear in th page source

    Firstly, it’s great to hear that flushing the cache has significantly reduced the number of errors. This indicates that caching might be one of the factors contributing to the issue. However, since you’re still experiencing some errors, let’s explore other possible solutions.

    The 429 Too many requests error typically occurs when a user or a script is sending too many requests to the server in a short period of time. This can be caused by a variety of factors, such as plugins, themes, or even server configurations.

    For us to investigate this further, can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled and see if the number of error has been reduced if not eliminated?

    If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

    If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

    Hi,

    I shut down all plugins apart from Woo, then flushed the cache, visited a few pages then ran S. Frog and it again came up 429 with 78 inlinks registered against Woo.

    There have been no fatal errors for several weeks.

    Hi,

    I reckon that the 429’s were caused by this bit of custom CSS that was intended to remove the option to enter a separate shipping address.

    Hello,

    If I understood correctly, when the custom CSS code above is disabled, the issue is not present.

    Can you let me know why do you need to remove the element from the page? That way we can better address your concern.

    To hide an element via CSS you can use the property display: none or visibility: hidden, but please note the differences: display: none will remove the entire element from the page and mat affect the page layout. On the other hand, visibility: hidden hides the element while keeping the space the same.
