Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Square » Woo to Square Sync cannot finished

  • Hello I am using Woocommerce 3.7.0 and Woocommerce Square 2.0.4, when changing a product to sync with square, the update took very long time (hours / overnight) or forever, even only 1 product. Is it correct like that? How long normally it takes time?

  • It looks on this forum that many are having issues with Syncing in Square. I have disabled the product syncing and just handle products inside of woocommerce only.

    Hi All,

@webmaster1234 – indeed there are a lot of syncing issues; that is primarily what Square does 🙂 The iteration of Square was long overdue for an update; it used to be that in ver. 1 it was tokenized in a way the token would expire, but there was not control over when. This meant the token would expire, Square would stop working and you would have to disconnect/reconnect. The token did not have a universal timer – it would just appear to randomly disconnect sites.

Due to this, we changed the way the plugin worked to mirror more how Square actually functioned, and gave it a lot more flexibility in the form of the System of Record. This is where things get stuck – the how’s and why’s are documented at this link and explain more detail on what you should have.

A lot of times, this is the culprit – or the fact that almost every site is different, and thus any number of unforeseen things can happen as plugins are configured differently, themes are customized, and that leads to a lot of unknown variables. We do try to get them as they come in, and those we can readily replicate we do our best to fix 🙂

This is definitely not normal 🙁 Do you have logging enabled on the plugin? If you do not, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Square and turn it on at the bottom. After that initiate the sync, and you will be able to see the logs at WooCommerce > Status > Logs. If you would please share them here by copying and pasting them in a reply, should it still not work.

This can give us an idea of what exactly is going on, and get it going for you! I look forward to hearing back from you 🙂

    Hi @awangdd,

Thank you for the log file. That’s a tricky case we have here! When I update a product on my own site and sync it to Square, I can see the following succession of events:

10-03-2019 @ 10:53:06 - Storing Square item data to WooCommerce products
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:06 - Stored Square data to 1 products in 0.04s
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:06 - Completed step cycle: update_matched_products (0.85s)
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Starting step cycle: update_matched_products
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Completed job step: update_matched_products
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Completed step cycle: update_matched_products (0.00s)
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Starting step cycle: search_matched_products
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Completed job step: search_matched_products
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Completed step cycle: search_matched_products (0.00s)
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Starting step cycle: upsert_new_products
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Completed job step: upsert_new_products
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:07 - Completed step cycle: upsert_new_products (0.00s)
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:08 - Starting step cycle: push_inventory
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:08 - Completed job step: push_inventory
    10-03-2019 @ 10:53:08 - Completed step cycle: push_inventory (0.00s)

When I compare this with the logs you’ve sent, it seems that the script is completely stuck on a single step of the process – finding the Square equivalent of the product you updated in Woo. The same action is repeating over and over again, and is taking a few seconds each time:

    10-01-2019 @ 09:58:44 - Completed step cycle: search_matched_products (6.56s)
    10-01-2019 @ 09:58:50 - Starting step cycle: search_matched_products
    10-01-2019 @ 09:58:52 - Searching through 300 catalog objects
    10-01-2019 @ 09:58:56 - Completed step cycle: search_matched_products (5.77s)
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:03 - Starting step cycle: search_matched_products
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:06 - Searching through 300 catalog objects
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:11 - Completed step cycle: search_matched_products (8.43s)
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:19 - Starting step cycle: search_matched_products
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:21 - Searching through 300 catalog objects
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:24 - Completed step cycle: search_matched_products (5.16s)
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:30 - Starting step cycle: search_matched_products
    10-01-2019 @ 09:59:33 - Searching through 300 catalog objects

As this problem doesn’t happen on my site, this may mean that some of the data sent to Square to identify the product is incorrect here–we’ll need to check in details why this might happen.

Can you please create an administrator account for woologin@woocommerce.com on your site and then submit a support ticket at https://woocommerce.com/my-account/create-a-ticket/?

    Thanks a lot in advance!
